SHRIMP meet with Lord Adonis

On Tuesday afternoon reps from SHRIMP met with Labour transport spokesperson Lord Adonis, a meeting kindly facilitated by Michael Foster at SHRIMP's request. The picture shows (left to right) Michael Foster, Christian Ramsoy (SHRIMP), Lord Adonis, Ray Chapman (SHRIMP).

Martin Woodfine says: "We thank Mr Foster for arranging this meeting. Lord Adonis was aware of the concerns regarding the Hastings < > Cannon St service and was able to reiterate previous assurances made by Gordon Brown, noting that the final decision on the withdrawal had not been made, neither had the options of extending the Thameslink service into Hastings or the final constitution of the rolling stock. However, LA conceded that there was an issue regarding power supply south of T/Wells and this needed to be reviewed.

LA also gave a useful comparison to another project elsewhere in the country which SHRIMP will move forward with the appropriate authorities.
These are ongoing issues that SHRIMP and Hastings need to and will keep high on the agenda."

Has anyone pointed out to LA (what a name :-)) and co that loosing 2500 seats from Canon Street to Sussex and Hastings, and generally running down the service, making it slower, etc, etc means people standing, eventually giving up and moving somewhere else. At City salaries on average 3+ times the national average that's a lot of money for our economy to loose.
