What's been happening? Members of SHRIMP sat in the House of Commons Gallery to see Amber Rudd's Adjournment Debate on Hastings' Transport. A BIG thank you to Amber and per PA for setting that up!! Whilst there was some stonewalling in the Ministers response, we were able to ascertain that any new franchises will be short (pre-Thameslink finalisation) and the rail Minister is in no doubt about the overall situation and the need for remedial action

After years of bad news, there is now some great news for rail travellers; Network Rail (NWR) have confirmed that they are to re-signal the whole East Coastway from Keymer (south of Haywards Heath), via Lewes and Eastbourne, to Bo-Peep junction, with the work scheduled to be completed in 2013.

Local Rail User Groups have responded to two studies published by rail infrastructure operator Network Rail. The two reports for the Kent and Sussex areas, and known as Route Utilisation Strategies (RUSs) were published at the end of January, and seek to outline service patterns and priorities for investment in the local rail network over the next ten years.

The recently published NetWorkRail (NWR) Electrificiation Route Utlilisation Strategy (RUS) is hugely disappointing in its approach for rail services serving Hastings & St Leonards. The potential electrification of the Ore - Ashford line has been ranked as a priority level 4 in a range of 1-6. The reason is given as a poor business case. The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) is supporting NWRs decision.
