We receive an average of 1,000 applications per vacancy
Potential drivers undergo a variety of suitability tests, including psychometric analysis.
All drivers must prove themselves to be customer-service driven.
It takes a minimum of 9mths to train up and a maximum of two fails is allowed. There are currently 96 trainees in the system and GTR are looking at vacancies within the early-2017 calendar intake.
Drivers are expected to do additional I-Pad based training in their own time; this will hopefully reduce the time-scale of the training calendar.
We are aware that some drivers are approaching retirement and GTR are looking at methods to use the best of the best with their experience (at their choosing).
Possible: part-time hours; cover duties for sickness; empty stock movements.
We recognise the need for driver retention, but will not be swayed by other employer terms and conditions.
